I might not be a doctor however, I would suggest that giving alcohol to a two year old girl would not be a good thing. Maybe that is why pretty much every country on the planet has adopted some way of regulating this in that there are legal ages for consuming alcohol. Gabriela was with her parents Derek and Tiffany Gilliam at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in North Carolina when she began to make strange faces shortly after being given what the parents thought was cranberry juice, as that is what they had ordered for their youngster. As it turns out, it was not cranberry juice at all but alarmingly, it was sangria. The little girl began to complain that the drink tasted funny and it was then that the parents investigated and realised the problem.
The little girl was rushed to hospital, accompanied by a staff member from the restaurant. There, a doctor confirmed that indeed, the two year old had accidentally ingested some alcohol.
The young girl’s mother described her horror at being witness to her daughter’s incident. “She was staggering and she was kissing everything,” Tiffany Gilliam told local television station WLOS. “It was very scary – I mean me my mom, his mom, we were all in tears. I don’t want that to ever happen to anybody else’s child”.
“I had to rub her belly the whole night and she slept with us because I was scared that she might not wake up,” Tiffany said. “That she’d choke on her throw up and not wake up. It was the most horrible feeling ever”.
As we could all imagine, the restaurant chain would be equally concerned for their business would probably hoping not to be sued too heavily. According to The Mirror, the restaurant released a statement which read; “We are taking this incident as an opportunity to look for ways to make our systems even better in order to prevent this from ever happening again”.
The Texas Roadhouse chain of restaurants specialises mostly in steaks, adopts a Western-style theme, and is known for its free buckets of peanuts on each table. Texas Roadhouse Corporation is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1993 in Clarksville, Indiana, the chain now operates about four hundred restaurants across forty-six states.
Little Gabriela Gilliam is reported to have made it home safely after a quick recovery.
